Sani Foundation has spent the last 2 years training our members in vocational, social and life skills in preparation for employment on the job market and we are glad to say that 7 of our members (50%) are ready to start transitioning to work and exploring career options.
Our members are ready and highly capable of working in any of the following settings: private homes, Day care, Restaurant, Lodges or hotels, Grocery stores, Hair Saloons, Spas, Company offices among others. We are now engaging employers to host our members for career exploration field trips, short internships and employment. This will give our members an opportunity to see and understand different jobs and have a real feel of employment.
So what’s next? Employment of Course! In May 2016, we launched a supported employment project working to place our members in open labour market employment. This initiative is the first of its kind in Zambia; and goes simply beyond service delivery but is also working to form linkages with policy and lawmakers to start to create change at an institutional level and make workplaces more inclusive by law.
For more information on how you too could become and inclusive employer, contact us and we’d be happy to inform and provide you with a hard-working and dependable employee.
